Gloria Spackman places her
hands on a client's temples and sits quietly without moving for several minutes.
It doesn't look like much is going on, but as Spackman moves her hands around, a hum of energy is working, she said.
After years of experience as a reiki practitioner, Spackman
said she can feel when she finds a blocked area of negative energy, the kind of patches she said can cause stress, pain and
sickness.
"I start at the head. There are
hand placements that you use," said Spackman, who began learning the techniques five or six years ago. "All I do
is place my hands on them, and let the reiki energy flow out of my hands and into their body."
The practice, rooted in Japan, is based on the philosophy that a universal life
energy flows through people and has a powerful affect on how they feel.

Quantum Physics & Reiki
The field of quantum physics suggests that Reiki may be much more scientific than anyone
knows right now. There are quantum physicists who are on the same page as Reiki when it comes to new theories about
energy and matter. We need to continue exploring quantum physics regarding how the divine can be viewed as an essential
part of the mind-body-spirit connection. It is possible that Reiki therapy may be one of many avenues to travel in this regard.
French physicist Bernard d'Espagnat was awarded the 2009 Templeton Prize, a coveted religion
award honoring someone who has made exceptional contributions to affirming life's spiritual dimension through insight,
discovery or practical works. D'Espagnat has theorized that quantum physics could provide insights into alternate spiritual
realities and has been quoted as saying that recent discoveries may be "signs providing us with some perhaps not entirely
misleading glimpses of a higher reality and, therefore, that higher forms of spirituality are fully compatible with what seems
to emerge from contemporary physics."
For many thousands of years healing through “laying on of hands” have been practiced by different cultures
around the world. Even today, when we hurt or feel pain in some part of our bodies, the conditioned response is to touch or
hold the location in an attempt to alleviate the pain. For many years we have researched the science behind it, and we
found answers not in religion or spirituality, but in Quantum Physics. The so-called “healing energy” actually
exists and has been measured in laboratories.
Serious laboratory studies
around the world have concluded that each and every living creature posses a measurable electro-magnetic energy field
around their bodies. It was also discovered that changes in the electric charges of the cells contributed to ALL processes
happening in the physical body.
Each cell is dependent on light (biophotons)
to function properly, and an imbalance in the electrical cellular activity (incoherent exchange) can cause havoc and consequently
imbalances on the individual’s mental, emotional and physical fields.
Researchers
have concluded that a “hands-on” healing practitioner is able to transfer some amount of subatomic electro-magnetic
energy (photon transmission) to the person being treated, and this energy is absorbed by the receptor and restores cellular
frequencies, bringing coherence in the exchange of light between the cells.
DID YOU KNOW..............Reiki Helped Win Olympic Silver Medal. Hayden Roulston, a
New Zealand cyclist won a silver medal in the Olympic men’s Track Cycling 4000m individual pursuit event. Hayden
had a serious heart condition in 2006 which he completely recovered from and in a pre-win interview he states that it was
Reiki that helped.
As a result of the ruling by the United
States Conference of Catholic Bishops, at least two Catholic medical centers in South Jersey -- Lourdes Wellness Center in
Collingswood and the Lourdes Cancer Center in Westampton -- will stop offering Reiki to patients,
The centers are part
of the Lourdes Health System, sponsored by the Franciscan Sisters of Alleghany, N.Y.

The US National Institute of Health has recently acknowledged and categorized Reiki
as a "Biofield Medicine", although Reiki could be more accurately described as a path to spiritual enlightenment
as well as a system of energy field healing.
Can you believe it??? Another
hospital using Reiki.
Saint Agnes Medical Center in Fresno, CA
When is reiki used
in the hospital?
Reiki can be used in a multitude of situations
in the hospital. It can be used to ease discomfort following surgery, prior to a procedure, or to reduce general anxiety and/or
fears the patient may have. Reiki therapy may be ordered by physicians, or it may be requested by the patient, the patient's
family, the nurse or social services.
At Saint Agnes, the Women
and Infant Services department currently employs two reiki therapists on an inpatient basis to help support
the healing process. Although reiki is not a substitute for medical therapy or treatment, it can supplement and expedite the
recovery process. Following their reiki sessions, our patients report greater relaxation, less stress and anxiety, and reduced
pain and discomfort.
Comments
about reiki from Saint Agnes patients:
·
"Made
me feel good ... a very positive aspect of this treatment."
·
"My
pain was improved and my swelling got better."
·
"Made
me feel like a million dollars."
·
"That
light touch ... I was so impressed with that."
·
"Increased my
energy level."

MYFOXNY.COM -- A hospital
in New Jersey
is using an unusual treatment to help fight pain. It doesn't involve painkiller medication or needles. Instead the Japanese
technique involves using hands -- and it's not massage.
There
is a Reiki program as well as other alternative medicine programs currently at Morristown Memorial Hospital

Energy Medicine
- Reiki - means “universal life force energy.” Reiki is a
popular Japanese energy healing technique that utilizes laying-on of hands to direct energy through the practitioner to the
client to heal physical, mental, emotional and spiritual conditions. Reiki is used to reduce stress and create a sense of
deep relaxation. Practitioners use it to clear energy blockages in the body and facilitate the body's natural healing
processes. Reiki is used to support healing in a wide variety of acute and chronic physical conditions including asthma, allergies,
arthritis, chronic pain, headaches, digestive disorders and insomnia. It is sometimes used to facilitate the healing of wounds,
broken bones, and burns. Reiki also eases mental distress and promotes emotional healing.

The Department of Veterans Affairs uses reiki in their Hepatitis C treatment program. Fort Bliss' Warrior Resilience program -- the same one Army Chief of Staff Gen.
George Casey believes should be replicated throughout the military -- uses it as one tool to help soldiers strengthen and recover following combat.
Military
OneSource's Health Library says it can increase wellness and "treat diseases of all types." And it's the reason given by New Zealand's champ cyclist Hayden Roulston for bouncing back from a serious heart condition to claim both Olympic
silver and bronze medals this past week in Beijing. What is Reiki [pronounced "Ray-Key"] ? Energy healing... While
I've heard of it in the past (in fact, I have a sister who is a Reiki Master and had used the touch therapy in her past
massage therapy practice), it seems to be bubbling up to the mainstream surface more and more these days. That the military
and VA are incorporating it, is another positive sign that mountains can be moved even in mammoth bureaucracies -- as long
as you believe it can be so (and add a little action into the mix to help it along). In light of the military and VA's
embrace of Reiki and other energy treatments like Qigong and distance healing, I asked an email correspondent if she would
educate me a bit on this sometimes hard-to-understand (or even believe) form of complementary therapy making its way into
the military ranks. READ MORE HERE: http://thejournal.epluribusmedia.net:80/index.php/op-ed/44-general%20op-ed/154-military-and-va-using-reiki-to-heal-returning-veterans |
